Kinja'd!!!

For shits and giggles, I selected “The Enthusiast.” It was sadly the same five suggested tires as both of the other options, none of which I actually want.

I’m looking for snow tires anyway, but at least steelies are cheap enough for the Camryvan that I can easily have a couple sets of wheels and swap them as needed.

Edit: Nevermind, I was Kinja’d by google, they only come in R16 not R15 :)

I’m a fan of Falken wildpeaks, though I admit I haven’t tried them on a minivan

Clearly you need new wheels and a lift kit first.

I considered lifting it a smidgen but I do so much highway driving it’s probably not worth it.

I think my first move would be to upgrade the drum brakes but sure, we can throw performance tires somewhere on the list!

As long as they’re available in your size, go for the General Altimax RT43. It’s one of the best all-season tires in snow, and pretty cheap too. Unless of course you’re specifically going to be swapping a second set of wheels with snows on for the winter.

My lift made zero difference in economy.

It did tighten up my handling some, which was an unexpected bonus.

I 2nd this.

We put them on our new van after finding the brand new Firestones were downright dangerous on anything but dry pavement.

We’re 30k in and they still have about 80% tread left. They handling snow/ice/rain/standing water without issue, they ride nice, they’re relatively quiet, and they hold the road well if you decide to push it.

Go for a great year round tire that’ll get you everywhere you need to go: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=General&tireModel=Grabber+AT+2&partnum=075TR5GRAT2OWL

I have these on my Voyager and they are unstoppable. They ride as good as stock, handle better thanks to stiffer sidewalls, wear well, and aren’t overly noisy.

Otherwise go for the Altimax RT43 as Textured Soy Protein suggested.

Tire Rack shows 2 7 tires in 205/70/15, 7 of which are snows. If you don’t mind throwing your speedo off 3mph at 60mph, they have 57 tires in 205/65/15 and 10 of them are snows.

Legally need snow tires from September to May to drive  west of here. Thanks for the advice on the rest of the year though!

Need snow tires due to traction laws in the mountains. Or chains...but I’d prefer snow tires.

Yeah I’m aware of how to click past it. I was just amused that they gave me the same suggestions regardless of the chosen driving style.

They’re three peak and work fantastic in the mountains.  We have them on my wife's car whenever we go snowshoeing and they're great.

Snows or traction devices required by law here, and I prefer snow tires to chains.

You may want to consider an all-weather tire. It’s a newer category of all-season tires that have extra snow traction and have the mountain-snowflake stamp on the sidewall for severe snow duty rating. So they’re acceptable for driving in snows-required areas, but unlike full snows are also fine to drive in warmer temps. This way you can avoid the 2 sets of wheels.

There’s nothing that’s an exact match for your factory size, but the Firestone WeatherGrip comes in 205/65-15 and 215/70-15.

I was in enough sketchy weather situations last year that I’m willing to pay a premium and switch wheels to ensure I can keep moving as long as roads are open. Even the snow tires I had were barely enough to make it through one ground blizzard that left a highway full of people sleeping in the halls of  a local school.

Yeah, I’d rather go full on snow tires. I nearly got stranded even with Pirelli snow tires last year (and did get stranded in another storm  in a rental SUV) and I’d really prefer to be able to drive in an unexpected blizzard as long as the roads are still open.

My van with the Grabbers had no issue plowing itself through 14" of unplowed roads.

It far outperformed our car which had dedicated snow tires.
